Abstract: This research work is based on the development of Al 6063 base metal matrix composite stir cast with coconut husk (fibre) reinforcement. The Al 6063 containing 98.56 % aluminium was melted and reinforced with 500 g nano-particles of coconut fiber in ratio of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%. The composite material was cast by pouring into a mould. The stirrer speed was adjusted to obtain vertex formation of molten metal and was positioned such that approximately 60% of melt is above the stirrer for enhancing good reinforcement dispersion. The processing temperature was maintained between 765 – 775 oC and the particle feed rate to the molten matrix is varied in % of grounded coconut husk for different specimen. Results showed that there were significant improvement in the strength and hardness of the composite with respect to the quantity of the reinforcement.
