Abstract: The important of predicting generation of solid waste cannot be over emphasized. It provides opportunities for appropriate and adequate solid waste management. This work was carried out to develop a mathematical model for household waste generation in a satellite community using Lagos State University as a case study. Plastics bags were distributed to the twelve selected flats in the senior staff quarters of the university for collection of generated wastes. The wastes were taken once a week for measurement using electronic weighing balance. This was carried out for four consecutive weeks. Data on the number of inhabitants and percentage of level of income in the selected flats in senior staff quarters were also collected for four consecutive weeks. The same procedure was done in the junior staff quarters of the university. The data obtained during the experiments were used for modelling and validation. The modelling matrix parameters were generated using the in-built solver tool in Microsoft Excel version 7. The models constants and coefficients were obtained by implementing the model matrix equations in Matlab 7.9.
